Scientologaissance man

Tom Cruise is having a busy few days: an appearance on Leno in which he channeled Elvis Presley — pelvis and all — and now the announcement that he’s considering reprising his role as Les Grossman, the profane and paunchy producer character he played in Tropic Thunder.

Cruise told E! Online, “tells Eonline.com, “I’ve talked about doing different videos with the character. I’ve started working with Ben on it, and we’ve kind of talked about different things to do. We were gonna do some in our free time, but we haven’t found the free time yet. … He’s a fun character. I gotta talk to Ben [Stiller], but there could be more to do with that guy.”

We make fun of Cruise a lot, and we enjoy it — he presents an easy target, and we’ve got a job to do here — but our favorite celebs are the ones who seem to have a sense of humor about things, and we’d never gotten that sense from Cruise until we saw him in a bald cap and screeching at assistants in TT.  And we LOVED IT.  He’d always seemed so uptight and controlled, so humorless, but he was brrrrrilliant in that movie, and we really hope he and Stiller do a running Grossman series.  We’d pay to watch it.

Cruise also told Leno he’d be open to doing musical theater.  Les Grossman: The Musical?  OMG we are so there.
